Négociant vins Bordeaux - Jean-Baptiste Audy - Libourne

A family history with a passion for wine since 1881.

In 2003, the fifth generation, embodied by Jean-Baptiste Bourotte, took over the family trading house and estates. However, the story began more than a century earlier, in 1881, when the Audy family (Jean-Baptiste Bourotte’s great-great-grandparents), visionary pioneers, settled at Château Jonqueyres. The wine merchant company was founded in 1906 by Jean-Baptiste Audy, a key figure of the second generation. This entity structured the commercial activity initiated by his parents. From his cellars on the legendary Quai du Priourat in Libourne, he expanded his commercial networks and extended the family’s vineyards by acquiring prestigious estates, including the renowned Clos du Clocher in Pomerol.

Spotlight on the Bourotte-Audy estate merger

The expansion of the family vineyards continued with the third generation and the marriage of Germaine Audy (daughter of Jean-Baptiste Audy) to Olivier Bourotte, then owner of Château Bonalgue in Pomerol. Their union gave birth to Pierre Bourotte (fourth generation), who, at just 19 years old, took over the management of Bonalgue while co-founding Château Les Hauts-Conseillants (1976) with his father-in-law and developing his own wine trading business. In 1990, Pierre was approached by Jean Audy, then head of the trading house "Jean-Baptiste Audy," to succeed him. The Bourotte-Audy business merger was then formalized, before being passed on in 2003 to the fifth generation, represented by Jean-Baptiste Bourotte.

Jean-Baptiste Bourotte follows in the footsteps of his father Pierre, in a lineage of wine merchants and winemakers.

Jean-Baptiste Bourotte passionately nurtures the growth of both family businesses. For the trading house, he works alongside an experienced commercial team to develop partnerships with leading operators in over 70 countries across Europe, North, Central, and South America, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. For the vineyards, each unique and authentic, he is dedicated to enhancing their reputation in the world of fine wines.
